Senate invites NLC, TUC for meeting, wants strike ended

The Senate is inviting the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) for a meeting to resolve the ongoing nationwide strike.

The Independent Mirror reported that the resolution was reached when the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele raises a point of order raised the plenary today.

The upper chamber also urged the labour unions to immediately suspend the strike in national interest.

Meanwhile This meeting comes as some of the suspects that allegedly attacked president of the Nigeria Labour Congress Comrade Joe Ajaero in Imo State have been arrested.

This is according to a statement today by the Office of the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu.

In the statement the NSA said the suspects have been apprehended and investigations are ongoing.

It further added that details of the investigations will be made public once it was concluded.
