The Executive Chairman of Nassarawa Local Government Area and Deputy ALGON Chairman for Kano Central, Ambassador Yusuf Shuaibu Imam ( Ogan Boye), has commenced the registration of supporters of former Kano State Governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau, into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Independent Mirror reports that the exercise, held at the APC Secretariat in Nassarawa, is aimed at formally integrating Shekarau’s loyalists—who recently defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—across the eleven wards of the local government.
Addressing party members at the event, Imam explained that the move followed the earlier reception of Malam Shekarau into the APC, led by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
He noted that the local government leadership had since mobilised supporters at the grassroots level to ensure their seamless registration and inclusion in the party structure.
He further stated that the initiative is part of broader efforts to consolidate the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections, in alignment with the Kano State Government and the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The chairman also commended the defectors for joining the APC, attributing their decision to ongoing developmental efforts in Kano State, particularly in infrastructure renewal, road rehabilitation, and policies under the “Kano First” agenda aimed at repositioning the state.
The event drew the attendance of top local government officials, including the Secretary to the Local Government, Ado Muhammad Hotoro; the Leader of the Legislative Council, Aliyu Musa Jibo; councillors; and other political appointees.
