The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has allocated land for the permanent site of the North-West Development Commission, furthering his commitment to regional development.
The Independent Mirror reports that, in a statement signed by Ibrahim Adam, Special Adviser to the Governor on Information, said Abba Kabir, disclosed this while receiving the commission’s governing board, led by Chairman Alhaji Lawal Yakawada, at the Kano Government House on Thursday.
This initiative by the Kano State Governor marks a significant step in advancing infrastructure and socio-economic growth in the North-West region.
Recall that the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, who sponsored the bill, stated that over N500 billion has been budgeted for the North-West Development Commission to cater to the entire region.
The bill was recently passed by both chambers of the National Assembly as part of efforts to address the challenges facing the seven states in the North-West: Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, and Zamfara, as well as the country as a whole.
