ACOMIN Commits to Reduce the Challenges of Malaria

Malaria has been described as a significant public health challenge in Nigeria that affects millions of lives annually.

The Independent Mirror reported that However, Approaching the fight against malaria through community-centred initiatives such as the Community-Led Monitoring project being implemented by ACOMIN has brought many advantages.

These include increased ingenuity, flexibility in tackling challenges by identifying and addressing the root cause of failed interventions; and enhanced accountability among others.

This is part of a brief for Jigawa state media meeting on the global fund malaria community-led monitoring project being implemented by ACOMIN.

In Jigawa state, the community-centered initiative being implemented by ACOMIN has yielded the successes that Facilitate in the renovation of Ruba Primary Health Care and Facilitate in the provision of 18 Staff across 5 facilities in Birniwa, Malam Madori and Ringim LGA’S

It also Facilitate in providing accommodation for Midwife across 3 number of Facilities in Birniwa and Dutse.

Moreover, Community members should actively support and advocate for their local Primary Healthcare Centers (PHCs).

Furthermore, as part of the national effort to address the challenges of Malaria in Nigeria, ACOMIN was engaged by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) under the ongoing Global Fund (GF) Malaria Grant to continue implementing the civil society component, building on the successes of the previous phase of the grant.

Similarly for Nigeria to progress in the control and elimination of malaria, it should implement a combination of measures that include mosquito avoidance, improved access to diagnostics and treatment, health education and promotion and community partnership.
