Hundreds of YUMSUK Students benefit from Barau Jibrin scholarship

Deputy Senate President Barau I Jibrin Maliya CON, has offered scholarships to hundreds of students of Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano.

The Independent Mirror reported that the ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Yusuf Maitama Sule University permanent site, Muhammad Buhari road, Kano.

The hundreds of students from YUMSUK, selected from Kano North Senatorial District which Barau represents, were given sums of thousands each.

Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdullahi, the chief of Staff to the Deputy Senate President, said the scheme was conceived by Barau to support his constituents to pursue their studies in various tertiary institutions in the country.

“This gesture is not only for the students of YUMSUF, every student from Kano North that is studying in Nigeria will benefit from this scheme”.

He added that this is not the first time he has been doing it, he has given similar support to farmers, and others in the society.

He urged the beneficiaries to take advantage of the gesture and study hard for them to excel in their academic pursuit.

In his remarks, the Special Assistant to the DSP on Media and Publicity, Hon Shitu Madaki Kunchi, urged students to use the scholarship in order to maintain their lives, especially the economic situation Nigeria is facing.

Some of the beneficiaries from different levels of Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano, thanked Barau for the gesture and prayed to Allah to reward him.
