Kano Government Unveils Plan to Modernize Motor Parks Across the State

The Kano State government has announced plans to modernize all its motor parks across the state to meet the standard level.

The Independent Mirror reported that this was contained in a statement Signed by Ibrahim Adamu Kofar Nassarawa Information Officer Ministry of Transportation on 20th January,2024.

The Special Advisor to the Governor on Transportation, Alhaji Danladi Idris Karfi, disclosed this during a familiarization visit to the Managing Director of the Kano Road Transport Agency (KAROTA), Engineer Faisal Mahmoud Kabir.

Alhaji Danladi Idris Karfi stated that the state government will also provide motels and other facilities at the motor parks aimed at providing comfort to travelers and attracting investors for the economic growth of the state, serving as the commercial nerve center of African countries.

The Special Adviser expressed concern about the environmental condition of some motor parks, describing them as an eyesore. He emphasized that the government will not tolerate any acts of land encroachment at motor parks.

He highlighted that the state government, under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, has given priority attention to the transportation sector in its efforts to improve revenue generation in the state.

Alhaji Danladi Idris Karfi further revealed that the government has concluded all arrangements for the procurement of boats at some strategic rivers, a first of its kind in the state.

In his remarks, the Managing Director of KAROTA, Engineer Faisal Mahmoud Kabir, commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for establishing the Office of the Special Adviser on Transportation and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor and other aides in the transportation sector. He assured support and cooperation from the Agency to move the state forward, emphasizing KAROTA’s commitment to addressing various challenges in the sector and fighting corruption.

Engineer Faisal Mahmoud Kabir mentioned that the Agency is working hand-in-hand with other stakeholders to effectively discharge its duties. He added that the government has approved the provision of new uniforms for personnel and equipment to enhance service delivery.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant on Transport, Malam Garba Mai Salati Garko, pledged to collaborate with the Agency and the Office of the Adviser and Special Assistant to move the state forward.

Similarly, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Alhaji Danladi Idris Karfi, led a delegation for an inspection visit to some motor parks in the state capital. He explained that the visit is part of the present administration’s efforts under the leadership of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to identify challenges bedeviling the motor parks with a view to addressing them.

The motor parks visited by the Special Adviser and the delegation included Na’ibawa Motor Parks, Malam Kato Motor Park, Yan Kaba, Kofar Ruwa, Milltara, and Rijiyar Lemo Motor Parks.
