Tinubu Appoints New EFCC Chairman

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Mr. Ola Olukoyede to serve as the Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), pending Senate confirmation.

The Independent Mirror reported that Presidential spokeman, Ajuri Ngelale, in a statement today, said Mr. Olukoyede’s appointment for a renewable term of five years followed the resignation of the suspended Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa.

He said the president also approved the appointment of Mr. Muhammad Hassan Hammajoda to serve as the Secretary of the EFCC for a renewable term of five years in the first instance, pending Senate confirmation.

Ngelale said the appointments were based on the powers vested in President Tinubu as established in section 2 (3) of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (Establishment) Act, 2004.
