Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has cautioned the 590 beneficiaries of the second batch of the 1,001 Postgraduate Foreign and Domestic Scholarship Programme to uphold discipline, moral integrity, and academic excellence as they pursue their studies both abroad and within Nigeria.
The Independent Mirror reports that addressing the students, parents, and dignitaries at the flag-off ceremony held in Kano, Governor Yusuf reminded the beneficiaries that their selection was based strictly on academic merit and moral uprightness, which must continue to guide their conduct throughout their studies.
“You must not engage in anything that will bring shame to your state or your family. Shun drugs, hooliganism, protests, immorality, 419, or cybercrime,” the Governor cautioned.
He congratulated the parents and guardians of the scholars for their unwavering support and sacrifices, while urging the beneficiaries to serve as worthy ambassadors of Kano State and Nigeria, upholding the values of hard work and integrity wherever they find themselves.
Governor Yusuf noted that the scholarship scheme, revived under his administration, is designed to produce a new generation of highly skilled professionals capable of driving innovation, rebuilding Kano’s economy, and contributing meaningfully to national development.
He prayed for the students’ safety and success, reaffirming his administration’s determination to sustain heavy investment in education for the growth and progress of future generations.
