US Embassy in Nigeria Organises Two-day Workshop For Kano Radio Journalists

The United States Embassy in Nigeria, has organized a two-day capacity building workshop for Kano Radio Journalists.

The Independent Mirror reports that the seminar, in a collaboration with Dhul Jalaalu Charitable Foundation, took place between 14-15, October 2024 at the American space, Murtala Mohammed library complex, Nasarawa, Kano.

Topics discussed included cultural sensitivity and awarenees, the power of language in radio reporting, and basic radio broadcasting.

Others include storytelling for radio, research and fact checking, radio program structure, digital platforms and distribution, as well as interviewing techniques.

Speaking through zoom, by the welcoming address at the workshop, Dr. Aishah Gambari, the press and media specialist of the US Embassy, Abuja, expressed his gratitude to the participants.

Gambari, urged journalists to always go through investigation before writing and reporting the news to get reliable information.

The workshop was attended by the experts and lecturers, including Kolawale Omoniya, the news manager of Cool, Wazobia FM and Arewa Radio, Kano state.

Also, the lecturer from the depertment of communication and computer science of the federal university Dutse, Jigawa Malam Sani Ahmad Kazaure, presented his paper on radio broadcasting basic and radio program structures.

While Joe Adah, a strategic content specialist, the US Embassy shades his light on digital platforms and distribution through the zoom.

Many journalists from different radio stations in Kano attended the workshop, which aimed to support and enhance their knowledge and skills in radio activities.
