The Northern Peace Foundation, has condemned the President of the Senate, Sen. GodsWill Akpabio Over allegation of N3.7trillion Budget Padding Under his Leadership of the Senate.
The Independent Mirror reports that on Thursday 18th March, 2024 the Northern Peace Foundation is organizing a 1000-Person Peace Walk Against N3.7trillion Budget Padding and Government Corruption.
The Northern Peace Foundation The Comr. Sajjad Ibrahim Jagora called for the immediate resignation of GodsWill Akpabio and an apology to Nigerians for his Budget Padding Under his Leadership.
“We organises this 1000-person peace walk aimed at condemning the deliberate corrupt act of budget Padding the 2024 budget with N3.7t to the Appropriation committee of the National Assembly despite the economic hardship that has pavaded the masses of this country.”
“The leadership of the Senate must change and become patriotic, non corrupt with zeal and able leadership that is ready to lead the Red Chamber to the promised land”, Comr. Jagora added.
Comr. Sajjad Ibrahim Jagora also said the 1000-person peace walk is a symbolic gesture of our unwavering resolve to combat corruption and uphold the values of transparency and ethical governance.
It recalls that this week the Senate suspended the lawmaker representing Bauchi Central, Abdul Ningi, for three months.
Ningi who was suspended after about three hours of debate over his interview in which he alleged that the National Assembly padded the 2024 N28.7tn budget.
The Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio, in his initial comment before the debate, noted that Nigerians were bashing the Senate.
Akpabio said, “Nigerians are bashing the Senate. Many Nigerians will never come back to respect this chamber in the future. The integrity of this chamber has been totally damaged, and we wanted you (Ningi) to repair it with your speech.
