The Federal Executive Council (FEC), under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved nine road construction and rehabilitation projects across Nigeria, with a reported combined value of ₦631.3 billion.
The Independent Mirror reports that among the approved projects is the Bichi Ring Road in Kano State, a 47-kilometre road project featuring a flyover. The project has been awarded to Laralec at a contract sum of ₦89.2 billion.
The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing State House correspondents after the FEC meeting presided over by President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Umahi also announced the completion of the first lot of the Abuja–Kaduna–Zaria highway, describing it as one of the fastest federal road projects in Nigeria’s history.
According to the minister, the approved road projects are spread across the country’s six geopolitical zones and are designed to boost economic activities, ease transportation, improve connectivity, and link major commercial centres.
He noted that the approvals reflect the Tinubu administration’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s deteriorating road infrastructure and improving transportation networks nationwide.
