The management of Matasa Football Club has presented gifts to players and honoured coaches and officials for their outstanding performance after the conclusion of the 2025 Nationwide League Two divisions seasons.
The Independent Mirror reports that the club’s President, Alhaji Abdulwahab Dayyabu, led the occasion, which was organized to celebrate the team’s remarkable achievements during the campaign.
Matasa FC made its debut in the 2025 Nationwide League two, recorded an impressive performance in the last season competition.
Speaking at the dinner ceremony, chairman of the club, Alhaji Abdulwahab Dayyabu commended the players and officials for their dedication and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting football development in the state.
He urged the players to double their efforts ahead of the upcoming season, emphasizing that his ambition is to elevate the club to a higher and more competitive level.
In his remarks, Acting Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Ibrahim Umar Fagge, called on businessmen to invest in football clubs across the country.
Fagge noted that the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) currently has four privately owned clubs, Remo Stars, Barau FC, Ikorodu City, and Kun Khalifat FC, which are not government funded.
Meanwhile, Bashir Bala emerged as Matasa FC’s highest goal scorer, while Jawwal Abdullahi was named the club’s Best Player of the Year.
Speaking on behalf of the players, Nura Muhammad expressed gratitude to the club president, coaches, teammates, and other dignitaries who graced the occasion.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including former Kano Pillars Chairman Surajo Yahya Jambul, Chairman of the Nigeria Coaches Association (Kano branch) Barrister Ibrahim Gwadabe.
Others, Junior Pillars technical adviser, Ibrahim A. Musa, and Chairman of the Kano State Sports Writers Association, Zahraddeen Sale.
